Sula, Recommended By Pediatricians

In the framework of the National Congress for Child Nutrition, Lacthosa through its brand, Sula, and the Honduran Pediatric Association (APH), renewed their alliance with the medical profession who recommended the consumption of Sula milk as healthy food for children over two years old.

Through this alliance, the APH recognizes and recommends the consumption of Sula milk in its life-long packaging as a healthy product that meets all the production processes with the highest standards of quality and safety.

Also, the APH authorized Sula to incorporate their stamp on the fluid milk long-life packaging allowing parents to identify the products recommended by the pediatric community as the best food for their children. It should be remembered that for infants, the best source of nutrition is breast milk, however, for children older than two fluid milk represents a source of proteins, minerals, and vitamins which are necessary for proper physical and intellectual development.

“Concerned by child malnutrition, Sula through various activities promotes consumption habits that allows the Honduran families enjoy a healthier lifestyle”, said Miriam Kafie, manager of corporate social responsibility of Lacthosa. She added that, “The aim is to motivate the population in general to include products that bring benefit to their health and improve the quality of life of all Hondurans”.

The collaboration between the Honduran Pediatric Association and Sula is to decrease the levels of child malnutrition through the promotion of the good eating habits in children. Currently, Honduras ranks second in Central America due to malnutrition. According to 2015 data provided by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), about 240 thousand children under five suffer from chronic malnutrition in 68 municipalities of 11 departments of Honduras, thus representing 23% of the population.

It is important to highlight that milk is vital during the development stage due to its high calcium content and is essential during childhood and adolescence since bones are in rapid growth and formation process. In addition to calcium, Sula milk is fortified with essential vitamins and minerals that help developing bodies and it contributes with Vitamin D, vitamin A, vitamin B12, phosphorus, and folic acid.
